The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has announced a series of events to observe the 89th birth anniversary of its founder and former president, Ziaur Rahman.
In a press release signed by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Taiful Islam Tipu on Saturday (18 January), the party outlined the commemorative activities planned for the occasion.
The observance will commence on Sunday (19 January) at 11am, with BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and members of the National Standing Committee laying floral wreaths and reciting Fatiha at the mausoleum of Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Later, at 2pm, a discussion meeting will be held at the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh auditorium in Ramna.
The meeting, organised by the BNP, will feature speeches from the party’s national leaders and distinguished guests.
The BNP has urged leaders and activists from all levels, as well as its affiliate and allied organisations, to attend the programmes punctually.
