Food inflation in Bangladesh was recorded at 12.92% in December, showing a modest decrease from 13.8% in November, as per the latest data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The slight reduction in food prices has contributed to a decrease in the country’s overall inflation, which stood at 10.89% in December, down from 11.38% the previous month.

In October, food inflation had reached its highest point since July, peaking at 14.10%.

The surge had been driven by disruptions in supply chains, caused by anti-discrimination protests.

Non-food inflation, on the other hand, was recorded at 9.26% in December, a slight decrease from 9.39% in November.
