Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus has extolled the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s geographical integrity and sovereignty since independence.
He lauded their pivotal role in border security, curbing smuggling, and combating the trafficking of drugs, women, and children, describing the force as the "ever-vigilant sentinels of the border."
Dr Yunus delivered these remarks on Friday (20 December), in a statement marking Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day.
Extending heartfelt congratulations to all members of the force, Dr Yunus described BGB as a venerable institution, underscoring its invaluable contributions during the country’s liberation war.
He noted the unparalleled bravery exhibited by its personnel, including the two valiant Birsreshtho awardees, Lance Naik Noor Mohammad Sheikh and Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rouf, alongside 119 other decorated freedom fighters.

Additionally, their significant role in managing the devastating floods in the country’s south-eastern region has been widely praised.
The chief adviser expressed his earnest hope that BGB personnel would continue to perform their duties with the utmost patriotism, dedication, sincerity, and professionalism to uphold the nation’s independence and sovereignty.
