Biden administration, in its final days, has announced a relaxation of regulations governing H-1B visas, facilitating American companies in hiring foreign professionals with greater ease.

The policy change is expected to benefit thousands of technology workers from India and China.

According to a report by the Times of India, this relaxation in H-1B visa policies will provide significant advantages for IT professionals from these two countries, enhancing their employment opportunities in the United States.

On Tuesday, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed that foreign students studying in the United States on F-1 visas would also be eligible to apply for H-1B visas through a streamlined process.

Alejandro N Mayorkas, secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, stated that American businesses heavily rely on foreign professionals to ensure smooth operations. The Biden administration implemented this policy adjustment to support such businesses.

The H-1B visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows American companies to employ foreign workers in specialised professions requiring technical expertise. Technology firms, in particular, depend on this visa to recruit thousands of professionals annually from countries like India and China.
