Govt to fix prices of essential commodities: Titu

State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu said the government will set fixed prices of essential commodities to control the amrket.

“A complete list of essential products will be fixed with the approval of the cabinet in the future to control the market,” he said following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) and JSC Foreign Economic Corporation (Prodintorg) under the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia for the supply of agricultural products at the Secretariat on Sunday (10 March 10).

“The United Arab Emirates has issued a state circular of 18 essential products given Ramadan, no one can increase the price of these products. We may not be able to do it this time. We will improve our supply chain,” he added.

In the future the government will prepare a complete list of essential products to improve the supply chain and fix the price, the state minister said.

He also said that there is sufficient stock of products in the country.

“There is no shortage. The volatility of the rice market has decreased. Oil prices are fixed. Market monitoring will start from today,” he added.
