The interim government has generated 86,277 jobs across various ministries within 100 days, with a focus on training and employment initiatives

The interim government has created employment for 86,277 individuals across various ministries within its first 100 days, said Youth and Sports Secretary Md Rezaul Maksud Jahedi.

"Under the Youth Development Department, a target has been set to provide institutional and non-institutional training to 2,64,080 job-seeking youths during the 2024-2025 fiscal year for both government and private sector employment, including self-employment initiatives. In the past 100 days, 19,452 individuals have completed training, with an additional 52,115 youths currently undergoing training," he said during a press briefing on Sunday (17 November).

The event was attended by Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports. On 10 November, Bhuiyan was reassigned from the Ministry of Labour to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, and Cooperatives.

Secretary Jahedi further stated that a total of 86,277 new employment opportunities have been generated in the past 100 days through the Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Labour and Employment, ICT Division, BPSC, Ministry of Youth and Sports, and Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

Of these, 2,468 jobs were created in revenue sectors, while 83,809 positions were established within project sectors, including self-employment and entrepreneurial roles.

He also highlighted that the government aims to create 5 lakh jobs over a two-year period.

Moreover, Secretary Jahedi revealed plans to conduct traffic management and social awareness training courses for a total of 2,100 individuals across seven batches.

Thus far, 710 participants have been trained, with 231 of them employed as auxiliary traffic police, while further recruitment efforts continue.
