Trading at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) ended in a downturn on Tuesday, with the market experiencing steady gains until noon before sliding into negative territory in the afternoon. The primary index, DSEX, dropped by 35.05 points, closing at 5,298.36 points, reflecting a significant pullback in investor sentiment.
The DSES Shariah Index fell by 12.29 points to 1,183 points, and the DS-30 Index, representing blue-chip companies, declined by 7.34 points to settle at 1,970.10 points.
The day's trading at the DSE involved shares and units worth 17.19 crore, with a total transaction value of Tk 577.6 crore, carried out across 177,398 transactions. Out of 400 companies that participated, prices of 216 companies declined, while 136 gained, and 48 remained unchanged.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended Tuesday on a subdued note. The CASPI Index fell slightly by 0.22 points, closing at 14,808.14 points. A total of 211 companies traded on the CSE, with 107 declining, 83 advancing, and 21 remaining unchanged.
The transaction volume at the CSE stood at Tk 12.62 crore, significantly up from Tk 3.97 crore the previous day. A total of 24.73 lakh shares and units were traded in 2,373 transactions on Tuesday.
