To maintain law and order across the capital and the entire nation, 191 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed, said BGB HQ Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam on Sunday (10 November).
Notably, the Awami League, through a statement on Saturday (9 November), called for its leaders and workers to gather and march at the Gulistan Zero Point today at 3pm in observance of Noor Hossain Day.
The programme was announced via a post on the party’s official Facebook page.
In response, the Anti-Fascism Resistance Platform has organised a mass gathering at Gulistan Zero Point. This gathering is set to be arranged by the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Hasnat Abdullah, one of the key coordinators of the movement, announced the protest via a Facebook status on Saturday.
Earlier, at 12:10pm that same day, Shafiqul Alam, press secretary to the chief adviser stated in a post on his verified Facebook page, "The Awami League is currently a fascist party. There can be no opportunity for this fascist party to hold any protest programme in Bangladesh."
