Shomi Kaiser, actress and former president of E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh, has been arrested from the capital's Uttara area in the early hours of Wednesday (6 November).
Police arrested her from a house in Uttara Sector-4 during a raid around 12:30am, said Rownok Jahan, deputy commissioner of Uttara Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
On 14 October, a defamation case of Tk 100 crore was filed ageist actress Shomi Kaiser in the Magura Chief Judicial Magistrate's Court for allegedly insulting BNP founder and former president Ziaur Rahman.
Shomi Kaiser is the daughter of noted Bangladeshi writer-novelist Shahidullah Kaiser and writer and former lawmaker Panna Kaiser.
Shami Kaiser was a popular actress of the nineties of last century.
