In a tragic incident, Mohammad Nizam Uddin, a 32-year-old Bangladeshi, lost his life in an Israeli airstrike on Lebanon, the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut confirmed on Saturday night (2 November).
The embassy reported that the airstrike launched on a residential building without prior warning, occurred in the afternoon of 2 November.
At the time of the strike, Nizam was at a coffee shop in the area and died on the spot due to the impact of the attack.
His body was later transported to Mount Lebanon Hospital, where it is currently kept in the hospital morgue, according to embassy officials.
This incident marks the first reported death of a Bangladeshi national since the onset of Israeli strikes in Lebanon.
Nizam, who hailed from Khadera in Kasba Upazila of Brahmanbaria district, was the son of Mohammad Abdul Quddus.
In an official press release, Bangladesh’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Air Vice Marshal Javed Tanvir Khan, expressed his deep sorrow at the death of the remittance worker Mohammad Nizam Uddin and prayed for the salvation of his departed soul.
The ambassador also extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members during this time of mourning.
