The interim government has not yet taken any decision regarding the president's resignation, said Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

"As of now, I can confirm that no decision has been made on the matter," he said in response to a question about President Mohammed Shahbuddin's resignation during a press briefing at the State Guest House Jamuna on Wednesday (23 October).

He further clarified that no discussions had taken place between the chief adviser and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) regarding the president's resignation, adding, "This is a routine dialogue. We are engaging in discussions with various stakeholders of the government in phases. These discussions will continue."

Referring to the protests surrounding the president’s potential resignation, Shafiqul Alam said, "We have asked the protesters to leave the area. Security has been tightened there."
