In a decisive move amid growing allegations of corruption and collusion with the ousted Sheikh Hasina government, Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed has announced the decision to send 12 High Court judges on leave.
The chief justice announced this decision during a tea gathering at his office on Wednesday (16 October).
Simultaneously, activists of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement have taken to the streets to demand the removal of the controversial and pro-Awami judges.
Thousands of students occupied the High Court premises around 12:30pm, raising slogans and creating a charged atmosphere throughout the court grounds.
A protest march commenced from the Raju Sculpture at Dhaka University, organised under the banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, and made its way to the High Court.
During this time, the students chanted various slogans.
The crowd's fervour was palpable as they expressed their discontent and rallied for change.
