Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has instructed field-level officials to work towards stabilising commodity prices and ensuring the smooth functioning of supply chains during the upcoming Ramadan.
In a video conference held today from the Chief Adviser's Office, he communicated this directive to officials from 31 districts across four divisions on Monday (30 December).
The conference involved representatives from Dhaka, Chittagong, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
A total of 19 divisional commissioners, police commissioners, range police chiefs, deputy commissioners, and superintendents of police participated in the meeting.
During the conference, the chief adviser emphasised the importance of maintaining law and order, preserving communal harmony, ensuring agricultural product preservation, facilitating fertiliser distribution, and ensuring peace in industrial areas.
In his concluding remarks, Professor Yunus expressed his appreciation for the officials' insights, stating that their contributions would help guide future government decisions.
“This is my first opportunity to speak with you all. I have learned a great deal and become better informed on several matters, which will undoubtedly assist us in our work,” he said.
As Ramadan approaches, he specifically urged officials to monitor market prices closely and to take measures to ease the movement of goods.
"Not only should you focus on market prices, but also on how to make the movement of goods more efficient," he added.
Professor Yunus further informed that several of the 15 commissions formed by the government for reform purposes are expected to submit their reports soon.
These reports will lead to discussions with political parties and citizens, creating a political atmosphere for the upcoming elections.
He instructed field-level officials to remain mindful of the public response to these reports, ensuring that the reform process is carried out peacefully.
The event was moderated by Cabinet Secretary Sheikh Abdul Rashid, who also announced that the chief adviser would soon hold a similar video conference with officials from the remaining 33 districts across the other four divisions.
