The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has frozen the bank accounts of Mostafa Kamal, chairman of conglomerate Meghna Group, along with those of his wife, Beauty Akter, and their children.

In letters recently issued to all commercial banks, the BFIU instructed that the personal accounts of Kamal and his immediate family be suspended for a period of 30 days.

The directive also requires the banks to submit comprehensive transaction details, account opening forms, Know Your Customer (KYC) documentation, and all relevant financial information pertaining to the individuals in question.

This move forms part of a broader inquiry into their financial affairs, though no official statement has been made regarding the nature of the investigation.
