At least 7 people were killed and several others injured when a passenger bus heading to Madaripur overturned and fell into a roadside ditch in Faridpur.
The accident occurred around 11am on Tuesday (8 April) near the Zobaida Karim Jute Mill in the Gerda Union area of Faridpur Sadar, along the Dhaka-Barisal highway.
According to Sub-Inspector Hiramon Biswas of Kotwali Police Station in Faridpur, the bus, travelling from Faridpur towards Madaripur, lost control and tumbled into a ditch beside the Zobaida Karim Jute Mill at Bakhunda.
Over 30 passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
Atiar Rahman, ward master at Faridpur Medical College Hospital said 4 of the injured were declared dead upon arrival. Later, 3 of the injured, who were in critical condition, later passed away.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be confirmed.
