The interim government has granted Minister of State status to Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, executive chairman of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA).
Cabinet Division issued a gazette notification to this effect on Monday (7 April).
The notification, was issued by order of President Mohammed Shahbuddin.
The statement confirmed that the government had conferred the rank of state minister upon Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun in recognition of his role as the head of both investment bodies.
