BNP Senior Joint General Secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has accused former prime minister Sheikh Hasina of spreading incitement while staying in India without a passport or visa.
“Sheikh Hasina has sold Bangladesh's independence and sove reignty to India little by little. She lost power in the face of student and public movements. She embezzled money in the name of building the Padma Bridge and Metrorail and smuggled it abroad,” he said at a memorial meeting held on Wednesday at Taherpur High School ground in Bagmara Upazila of Rajshahi, marking the 23rd death anniversary of Prof Abdul Wahed Mandal.
"Sheikh Hasina considers public money as personal and family assets," Rizvi said, adding that she acquired government plots unlawfully and amassed wealth under family members' names.
He mentioned that BNP leaders and activists faced enforced disappearances, killings, attacks and lawsuits using the state machinery. “Sheikh Hasina has been in power by force for so long, but she could not be saved in the end.”
The memorial meeting, presided over by Taherpur Municipality BNP President Shamsur Rahman Mintu, was also attended by BNP Central Committee Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam and other party leaders.
