Detectives have detained Superintendent of Police Tanvir Salehin Emon from Bangladesh Police Academy in Rajshahi’s Sardah.

Additional Deputy Inspector (crime management) of Rajshahi Range Sarowar Jahan said a DB team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) picked up the SP from the Sardah academy around 10 pm on Tuesday.

He could not provide details about the arrest, saying that the DB knows why they picked him up.

Tanvir, hailing from Kishoreganj’s Karimganj upazila, joined Bangladesh police in 2010 through the 28th BCS examination.

His father Md Iqbal is general secretary of upazila unit of Awami League.

He received the IGP Badge and President Police Medal in 2016 and 2017 respectively.

During the July uprising, he was posted at the police headquarters as deputy commission (admin) and later transferred to Sardah.
