The 58th Bishwa Ijtema, one of the largest Islamic congregations in the world, is set to commence on Friday (31 January) on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi.
The event will begin with a general sermon (Aam Bayan) following the Fajr prayers.
The first phase of the gathering will be attended by followers of the Shura-e-Nizam faction, aligned with Maulana Zubair.
Devotees from various regions have already started arriving at the Ijtema ground, with designated area coordinators overseeing their accommodation and arrangements.
Participants have begun settling into their respective sections as the spiritual assembly prepares to unfold.
This year’s Ijtema will be held in three phases under the supervision of Islamic scholars affiliated with the Shura-e-Nizam.
The first phase will take place from 31 January to 2 February, culminating in the final supplication (Akheri Munajat).
Devotees from 41 districts, including parts of Dhaka, will participate in this stage.
Among the districts included are Gazipur, Tongi, Dhamrai, Gaibandha, Mirpur, Kakrail, Natore, Moulvibazar, Rajshahi, Dohar, Demra, Narail, Thakurgaon, Lalmonirhat, Nawabganj, Nilphamari, Dinajpur, Rangpur, Bogura, Narayanganj, Barishal, Bhola, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Jashore, Magura, Bagerhat, Satkhira, Mymensingh, Chattogram, Netrokona, Sherpur, Faridpur, Habiganj, Sunamganj, Feni, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Brahmanbaria, Khulna, Patuakhali, Cumilla, Jhenaidah, Chapainawabganj, Pirojpur, Kurigram, Panchagarh, and Rajbari.
The second phase will commence on 3 February and conclude on 5 February with another grand supplication.
Similar to the first phase, it will include devotees from 41 districts, including a section of Dhaka.
A third phase is scheduled to begin on 14 February, featuring the participation of Maulana Saad's followers.
This final stage of the Ijtema will conclude on 16 February with its concluding supplication.
With thousands of attendees expected, extensive preparations have been made to ensure smooth conduct, safety, and logistical support for the participants throughout the event.
