 United States National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan held a phone conversation with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus.

During the discussion, both leaders reiterated their commitment to safeguarding the rights of all individuals, irrespective of religion, according to the White House website on Monday (23 December).

"National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke today with Professor Muhammad Yunus, the head of Bangladesh's interim government. Sullivan expressed his gratitude to Yunus for leading Bangladesh during a challenging period," the statement read.

The statement further noted, "Both leaders underscored their shared commitment to respecting and protecting human rights for people of all religions. Jake Sullivan reaffirmed the United States' support for a prosperous, stable, and democratic Bangladesh. He emphasised the continued support of the United States in helping Bangladesh address the challenges it faces."
