The government today approved a proposal for procuring some 1.5 million passport booklets and 1.5 million lamination foils.
The approval came from the 14th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase this year held today at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
The booklets and lamination foils would be procured for the current fiscal year (FY25) from HID CID Limited, Maplewood, Crockford Lane, Chineham Business Park, Basingstoke, England under international Open Tender Method (OTM) with around Taka 61.20 crore.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed said that they need passports immediately for the expatriate Bangladeshis as they had to wait for a long time for renewal of passports.
Besides, he said that Bangladesh's embassies and Mission’s abroad are putting emphasis on issuance and renewal of more passports.
