Mufti Md Ruhul Amin has been dismissed from his position as the Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, according to a press release issued by the Islamic Foundation on Sunday.
The statement read that Ruhul Amin, a native of Gopalganj, had been absent from the mosque following the fall of the Awami League government on 5 August.
After six weeks of absence, Ruhul Amin returned to lead the Jumma prayer on Friday. However, a group of worshippers refused to pray behind him, leading to a clash between two factions inside the mosque. The altercation resulted in several people being injured.
