Bernard Arnault, the chairman and CEO of the global luxury goods brand LVMH (Louis Vuitton), has surpassed Elon Musk as the wealthiest person in the world.

According to the Forbes magazine, the Arnault family's net worth soared to $207.8 billion on Friday (26 January), marking a $23.6 billion increase. In contrast, Musk's fortune stood at $204.5 billion, declining by more than $18 billion, reports NDTV.

The two billionaires have been engaged in a wealth tug-of-war since 2022, with Arnault reportedly claiming the top spot late that year.

The Forbes real-time billionaires list ranks the top five wealthiest individuals as follows: Bernard Arnault & Family with $207.6 billion, Elon Musk with $204.7 billion, Jeff Bezos with $181.3 billion, Larry Ellison with $142.2 billion, and Mark Zuckerberg with $139.1 billion.

However, the Bloomberg Billionaires Index maintains that Musk remains the richest man in the world, boasting a net worth of $199 billion. Following Musk is Jeff Bezos, the founder of e-commerce giant Amazon, with $184 billion in wealth.

On the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Bernard Arnault holds the third position with a net worth of $183 billion.
