Ramesh Singh Arora, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president, has become the first Sikh who took oath as a minister in Pakistan's Punjab province since Partition of Bengal.

Arora, a resident of Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of the first Sikh master Guru Nanak Dev, and a member of the provincial parliament on a PML-N ticket, is one of the 17 ministers who took oath of office in the cabinet led by Maryam Nawaz.

The three-time MPA told TOI that he might be in charge of human rights and minority problems.

As a minister, he vowed to put the rights of the Pakistani minority first and enable them to lead respectable lives.
