Several districts across the country have been experiencing sweltering heat for the past few days; however, this situation is expected to improve shortly, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
"Expected rainfall for this period has not occurred, which is contributing to the oppressive heat. He also added that the situation might improve within the next two days," BMD said in a bulletin issued on Tuesday (10 September).
On Monday (9 September), the highest recorded temperature in the country was 36.3 degrees Celsius in Rajarhat, Kurigram. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the lowest temperature recorded was 25.2 degrees Celsius in Bandarban.
Another bulletin from the department stated that the monsoon is currently moderately active over Bangladesh and is in a medium state over the North Bay of Bengal.
Under these conditions, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds may occur across all divisions of the country until Friday morning, 13th September. Additionally, some areas might experience moderately heavy rainfall.
However, in the extended five-day weather forecast, it has been noted that towards the end of this period, the likelihood of rain may decrease.
For today, Tuesday, daytime and night-time temperatures across the country are expected to remain nearly unchanged. However, temperatures may decrease slightly on Wednesday (11 September) and on Thursday (12 September), they could drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius.
