BNP's acting chairman, Tarique Rahman has stated that the party’s movement will continue until a government elected by the people is established.
"The autocratic regime has fled, but the political rights of the people have not yet been achieved. Therefore, our movement has not ended. The BNP's struggle will continue until a government of the people is formed," he said while virtually addressing a gathering organised by the Kalaroa Upazila and Municipal BNP in Satkhira on Sunday (8 September).
Speaking about the current Awami League government, he claimed that certain political parties have fallen into the trap of neighbouring countries and have been misled into making certain statements. He stressed the need for vigilance, stating, "We must remain alert, as there are external forces manipulating from abroad who do not want democracy to return to the country."
Rahman also highlighted Satkhira’s key local industries, mentioning mango, tiles, shrimp, and the Sundarbans, and emphasised the importance of creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth through the production and preservation of these goods.
The event was chaired by BNP's Central Publication Affairs Secretary, Habibul Islam Habib, and saw speeches by Central Information Affairs Secretary Azizul Bari Helal, Rangpur Divisional Assistant Organising Secretary Abdul Khalek, Khulna Divisional Assistant Organising Secretary Jayanta Kumar Kundu, Press Wing official of the BNP Chairperson Shamsuddin Didar, National Executive Committee member Dr Shahidul Alam, former MP Kazi Alauddin, Advocate Shahanara Akhtar Bokul, Satkhira District BNP Joint Conveners Tarikul Hasan and Ainul Islam Nanta, among others.
