Dr Yunus to lead 7-member delegation to UNGA

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus is set to visit New York with a seven-member delegation to attend the 79th UN General Assembly from 22-27 September

Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to make a brief visit to New York to attend the 79th United Nations General Assembly.

He will be accompanied by a seven-member delegation during the visit, which will take place from 22-27 September, said Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Touhid Hossain.

The seven-member delegation will include Dr Yunus's daughter, Dina Afroz Yunus; Lamia Morshed, Chief Coordinator for SDG Affairs; Debapriya Bhattacharya, head of the committee formed by the interim government to draft a white paper on Bangladesh's current economic situation; Shahidul Alam, Managing Director of Drik; Mahfuz Alam, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser; Shabbir Ahmed, the Chief Adviser’s Personal Secretary; and Ayesha Siddika Tithi, a student from the private BRAC University.

Earlier, on 1 September, during a briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr Md Tawhid Hossain had announced Dr Yunus's scheduled brief visit to New York for the UN General Assembly.
