The government will bear the responsibility of looking after the families of those who sacrificed their lives during the recent student uprising, said Information Adviser Nahid.
The adviser spoke with the family of Mohammad Ramzan Ali, who was killed by police fire during the student-led protests in Baipayl at the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications on Thursday (5 September).
Adviser Nahid remarked that the way students and the general public took to the streets during the mass uprising was instrumental in creating a new Bangladesh.
He emphasised that it was thanks to the martyrs that the nation enjoyed its current state of freedom and liberty.
The adviser assured that he would keep track of the needs of the martyr Mohammad Ramzan Ali's family and pledged to provide them, along with other martyr families, with monthly stipends and other benefits.
During the meeting, Ramzan Ali’s father and younger sister were present.
Mohammad Ramzan Ali was a degree student in Singra, Natore.
As no one else in his family was earning, he worked at a fish trading business in Baipayl to support his entire household.
He participated in the anti-discrimination student movement and was tragically killed by police gunfire on 5 August.
