Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed is set to present a roadmap for the judiciary on 21 September, in the presence of judges from all lower courts across the country.

"Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed will deliver an address to the country's subordinate court judges on 21 September, during which he will introduce the roadmap for the judiciary," said Supreme Court Public Relations Officer Md Shafiqul Islam citing a press release.

In his inaugural speech to the Supreme Court lawyers on 12 August, the chief justice elaborated on various issues related to the judiciary, including judicial independence, autonomy, and institutional separation.

The event is scheduled for 10am on 21 September at the inner garden of the main Supreme Court building.

Judges from both divisions of the Supreme Court, along with other key figures, are expected to attend.

All judicial officers have been instructed to be present at the event promptly.

On 5 August, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina resigned and fled the country amidst a mass student-led uprising.

In the aftermath, under student demands, former chief justice Obaidul Hassan and six Appellate Division judges also resigned.

Subsequently, Senior Justice of the High Court, Syed Refaat Ahmed, was appointed the 25th chief justice of the country.
