12-member panel formed to reform country's health system

The aim of the panel is to make necessary reforms of the existing health system of the country, quality improvement of medical services and strengthening the structure of the health system.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has formed an expert panel of 12 members with former Director General of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Professor Dr M Abul Faiz President and former Director of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) Prof Dr Abdullah Shafi   Majumdar Member Secretary.

A notification issued by The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said this on Wednesday.

The aim of the panel is to make necessary reforms of the existing health system of the country, quality improvement of medical services and strengthening the structure of the health system.

The remaining members are: President of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh  (BADAS) Professor AK Azad Khan, Vice Chancellor (VC) of Bangabandhu Sheikh  Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Professor Md Sayedur Rahman, former Director  of the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) Prof  Mahmudur Rahman, Senior Gynecologist and Obstetrician Dr Ferdousi Begum,  Former Professor of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital Dr Feroze Quader, former Additional Director General (Planning and Development) of DGHS Professor Dr Sania Tahmina, Dhaka Community Medical College Hospital  Pediatric Department Professor Dr Shakil Ahmed, CEO at Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB) Dr Fazlur Rahman, BSMMU former head of the Department of Medicine Professor Dr MA Jalil Chowdhury and MH Samorita Medical College and Hospital Prof Dr Sarker Mahbub Ahmed Shamim.
