A total of 57 Bangladeshis who were earlier convicted by the UAE Federal Court were granted pardons by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said the Chief Adviser's Press Wing on Tuesday (3 September).
In line with the top directive, UAE Attorney General Dr Hamad Al Shamsi has issued an order to halt the implementation of the sentences and commence deportation procedures.
Hel also called on all residents of the UAE to respect the country’s laws, stressing that the right to express opinions is protected by the state and its legal framework, according to Gulf News.
He highlighted that the state provides lawful means for expressing views, ensuring this right does not turn into actions that could harm the interests of the nation and its people.
Following the pardon, UAE has directed that the individuals be repatriated to their home country on Tuesday (3 September.)
The Bangladeshis were earlier convicted in July after staging a rare protest in the UAE where staging any demonstrations is not permitted by the law.
