BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has been acquitted in five cases filed against her, including charges related to celebrating a false birthday, supporting war criminals, and causing confusion about the number of freedom fighters.

Multiple Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Courts dismissed the cases and acquitted the accused as the plaintiff failed to appear in court on the scheduled hearing date on Tuesday (5 September), said Masud Ahmed Talukder, Khaleda Zia’s lawyer.

He stated that the Additional Metropolitan Magistrates of Dhaka, Mahbubul Haque and Tofazzal Hossain, dismissed the cases against Begum Khaleda Zia due to the plaintiff's absence during the hearing.

Syed Zainul Abedin Mezbah, another lawyer representing Khaleda Zia, noted that the court issued the dismissal order after the plaintiff repeatedly failed to appear on several scheduled dates.
