The death toll from Bangladesh's worst flood in recent memory has risen to 67, with Feni being the hardest-hit district, while flood conditions are gradually improving in several affected areas

The death toll from the most devastating flood in recent memory has risen to 67, with Feni district recording the highest number of fatalities at 26.

According to the latest update from the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief on Monday (2 September), the 11 flood-affected districts are Feni, Cumilla, Chattogram, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur, and Cox's Bazar. 

The flood situation has returned to normal in Chattogram, Khagrachari, Habiganj, Sylhet, Brahmanbaria, and Cox's Bazar.

Moulvibazar has seen improvements in its flood conditions, and the situation in Feni, Cumilla, Noakhali, and Lakshmipur is also gradually improving.

A total of 68 upazilas have been submerged, with 6,05,767 families across 504 unions and municipalities affected and stranded by floodwaters.

Among the deceased, 42 are men, 7 are women, and 18 are children. The fatalities by district are as follows: 17 in Cumilla, 26 in Feni, 6 in Chattogram, 1 in Khagrachari, 11 in Noakhali, 1 in Brahmanbaria, 1 in Lakshmipur, 3 in Cox's Bazar, and 1 in Moulvibazar, where one person is also reported missing.

To shelter those stranded by the floodwaters, a total of 3,615 shelters have been opened, housing 3,06,741 people and 32,830 livestock.

Additionally, 472 medical teams have been deployed across the 11 affected districts to provide healthcare services to the victims.
