The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) has decided to extend the operational days of the metro rail, introducing services on Fridays, traditionally a weekly holiday. This decision has been taken in response to growing passenger demand.

Several officials from DMTCL confirmed the development on Monday (2 September).

They stated that while an official announcement is yet to be made, the plan is in place.

Discussions with consultants regarding the implementation are underway, though the exact date for the commencement has not yet been finalised. They assured that the service will be launched very soon.

According to DMTCL sources, the introduction of Friday services is imminent and will not take long. Instructions have already been issued for the creation of rosters for station controllers, train operators, and other personnel involved.

It has been announced that due to lower passenger volumes in the morning, the Metro Rail will operate from 3 PM until night on Fridays.

DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique commented, "We are working on the matter. We will be conducting a visit today as well. We need a bit more time to set up the entire system for Fridays. However, I can confirm that we are working on the launch."
