Home Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) M. Sakhawat Hussain announced on Sunday that a joint forces operation will commence on 4 September to recover illegal arms across the country.
The announcement follows an earlier statement on 26 August, where the Home Adviser hinted at the possibility of such an operation.
The need for the operation arose after several police stations and law enforcement agencies were vandalised, and arms were looted during the recent anti-discriminatory student movement.
