The death toll from the ongoing floods in the country’s eastern regions has risen to 59, according to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief.
In addition to the fatalities, one person remains missing in Moulvibazar, according to a press release issued by the ministry on Saturday.
Among the 11 affected districts, the flood situation has returned to normal in Chattogram, Habiganj, Sylhet, Khagrachari, and Cox’s Bazar, while it has improved in Moulvibazar and Brahmanbaria. The situation is also improving in Cumilla, Noakhali, Feni, and Lakshmipur.
According to the ministry, approximately 696,995 families remain marooned in these districts.
Of the flood victims, 49 are men, six are women, and 12 are children.
The deaths include 23 reported from Feni, 14 from Cumilla, six from Chattogram, three from Cox’s Bazar, nine from Noakhali, and one each from Khagrachari, Lakshmipur, Moulvibazar, and Brahmanbaria.
