The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to initiate two separate inquiries into corruption allegations against former Rail Minister Md. Zillul Hakim and former MP for Sirajganj-4, Tanvir Imam.
The two are accused of misappropriating public funds through various irregularities and corruption, and of acquiring assets beyond known sources of income in their names and those of their family members.
This decision was made on Thursday (29 August) at the ACC's headquarters.
Md. Zillul Hakim was elected as a Member of Parliament in the 2008, 2014, and 2018 national elections. He was appointed Rail Minister earlier this year. Tanvir Imam, son of the late H.T. Imam, the former Co-Chairman of the Awami League’s Election Steering Committee and Political Advisor to the Prime Minister, was elected MP for Sirajganj-4 in the 11th National Parliament election but did not receive the Awami League nomination for the 12th National Parliament election.
