Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed has reassured the public that there will be no fertiliser shortages.
His remarks come following the inaugural meeting of the Procurement Advisory Committee at the secretariat on Wednesday (28 August).
The meeting, presided over by the Finance Adviser, concluded with a decision to procure 90,000 metric tonnes of urea fertiliser from multiple sources.
This includes 30,000 metric tonnes to be sourced from the United Arab Emirates, 30,000 metric tonnes from Karnaphuli Fertiliser Company Limited, and an additional 30,000 metric tonnes from Qatar.
Furthermore, the advisory committee has also resolved to purchase 20,000 metric tonnes of lentils as part of their procurement strategy.
