The death toll from the ongoing floods in 11 districts across the country has risen to 27, with a total of 5,619,375 people affected.
These figures were disclosed by Faruk-e-Azam, the adviser to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief, during a press conference held on Tuesday (27 August) at the Secretariat to address the current flood situation.
The adviser stated that the number of flood-affected districts remains at 11.
A total of 5,619,375 people have been affected in these districts, with 1,207,429 families currently stranded by the floodwaters. The flood has inundated 74 upazilas and affected 541 unions/municipalities.
He further reported that the death toll has reached 27, including 10 in Cumilla, 1 in Feni, 5 in Chattogram, 1 in Khagrachari, 5 in Noakhali, 1 in Brahmanbaria, 1 in Lakshmipur, and 3 in Cox's Bazar.
