Ambassador Yao reaffirmed China's commitment to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations and expressed respect for the development path independently chosen by the people of Bangladesh.
He conveyed China's hope that Bangladesh will soon achieve unity, stability, development, and prosperity. Despite changes in Bangladesh's domestic situation, China’s dedication to enhancing China-Bangladesh relations remains unwavering.
Ambassador Yao underscored the longstanding friendship between China and Bangladesh, noting that the two countries are comprehensive strategic cooperative partners.
He remarked that their bilateral relationship serves as a model of mutual respect and win-win cooperation among developing countries.
China firmly supports Bangladesh in safeguarding its national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as in maintaining national unity and stability, he said.
Additionally, China anticipates Bangladesh playing a more prominent role in international and regional affairs, the envoy further said.
Both China and Bangladesh, Ambassador Yao noted, are at a critical juncture of development and revitalisation, presenting vast potential for cooperation.
China is prepared to share its experience in reform and development with Bangladesh and is committed to implementing the agreements and consensus reached by the two sides.
Ambassador Yao highlighted China's readiness to import fresh mangoes from Bangladesh, accelerate negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement, optimise the China-Bangladesh Investment Agreement, encourage local currency settlement in bilateral trade, and support Chinese enterprises investing in Bangladesh.
Furthermore, China is committed to working with Bangladesh to organise activities for the "China-Bangladesh Year of People-to-People Exchanges" in 2025 and to maintaining visits and exchanges at all levels to elevate the Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership to new heights.
In addition, Ambassador Yao reiterated China’s determination to engage with relevant parties in Myanmar to secure a ceasefire, thereby fostering conditions conducive to the early repatriation of displaced persons from Rakhine State, Myanmar.
