Power connections will be restored soon after the floodwaters recede, said Energy Adviser Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan.
“To prevent accidents in flood-affected areas, power lines have been shut down. We have already compiled a list of damages. As soon as the floodwaters recede, power lines will be swiftly restored,” said the Energy Adviser.
He made these remarks in response to questions from journalists during a visit to the 35-megawatt Spectra Solar Power Plant in Paturia, Shibalaya upazila, Manikganj, on Saturday (24 August).
He further added, “In the past, the power and energy sectors have been plagued by widespread irregularities. Laws were enacted in 2010 allowing projects to be taken on without any competition, often favoring certain individuals. Prices were increased arbitrarily, with the intent of purchasing electricity at higher prices through irregularities and selling it to consumers at inflated rates under various pretexts.”
Also present during the visit were Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Rehana Akhter, Chairman of Spectra Solar Power Plant Engineer Aftab Uddin Khan Bachchu, Executive Engineer of Manikganj Power Grid Gias Uddin, Shibalaya Upazila Executive Officer Billal Hossain, and several others.
