The digital banking license for Nagad Digital Bank PLC has been suspended, said Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur.
The BB chief also said that the central bank will review the process.
Mansur was briefing the reporters at a press briefing at the central bank headquarters in the city on Thursday (22 August).
The Nagad will get back digital banking licence if they qualify as per the central bank's review process, he added.
In October last year, the central bank awarded the digital banking licence to Nagad.
It is alleged that the MFS service-providing entity availed the licence bypassing the existing rules. Two influential persons linked to the recently ousted Awami League-led government intervened to get the licence.
