In a significant reshuffle within the Bangladesh Police, Deputy Inspector Generals (DIGs) from all ranges and metropolitan police commissioners have been transferred.
The decision was formalised in a notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday (21 August).
The officers transferred include Syed Nurul Islam, DIG of Dhaka Range, who has been reassigned to the Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi; Nur-E-Alam Mina, DIG of Chattogram Range, also reassigned to the Police Academy in Sardah; and Shah Mizan Shafiur Rahman, DIG of Sylhet Range, who is now assigned to the Railway Police. Additionally, Md. Anisur Rahman, DIG of Rajshahi Range, has been transferred to the River Police, while DIG Moinul Haque of Khulna Range has been moved to the Police Academy in Sardah. The DIG of Barishal Range has been reassigned to the Anti-Terrorism Unit, and DIG Md. Shah Abid Hossain of Mymensingh Range has been transferred to the Tourist Police.
In the metropolitan police departments, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG) Md. Saiful Islam has been reassigned to the Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG) Biplob Bijoy Talukdar has been transferred to the T&I&M, and Sylhet Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG) Md. Zakir Hossain Khan has been moved to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI). Additionally, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG) Md. Mahbub Alam has been reassigned to the Railway Police, while Barishal Metropolitan Police Commissioner (DIG) Jihadul Kabir has been transferred to the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).
