The employees of the IDEA-2 project under the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat have called for strike to realise their two-point demand.
They announced the programme from a meeting held on Tuesday (20 August).
Under the circumstances, the National Identity Card (NID) services have been suspended from today (21 August).
The employees of the IDEA-2 project have begun a work abstention and sit-in protest in front of the EC building from 8am.
One of their two points demand is transferring the NID department from the Ministry of Home Affairs to the EC.
Another demand is to grant permanent employment to all employees of the IDEA-2 project, from grades 9 to 20.
