Jalal Yunus, who served as a director on the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) by his nomination as a councillor by the National Sports Council (NSC), has tendered his resignation from the board.
According to sources, Jalal has already submitted his resignation letter to the NSC.
Since the fall of the government, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon has reportedly gone into hiding, likely due to his dual roles as a Member of Parliament and a former sports minister, which have kept him within the political spotlight.
However, on 15 August, multiple sources revealed that Papon is currently residing in London and has decided to step down from his position as BCB President.
Before Papon could make his resignation official, Jalal Yunus, who was in charge of cricket operations at the board, resigned from his role.
Additionally, sources indicate that another BCB Director, Ahmed Sazzadul Alam, has also been asked to resign by the NSC.
In an interview with Cricbuzz, Jalal Yunus confirmed his resignation, stating, "I resigned from the board in the best interest of cricket."
The same media sources reported that Jalal Yunus was instructed by the NSC to step down, a directive he promptly followed by submitting his resignation via email.
The same instruction was given to Sazzadul Alam Bobby, though he has not yet resigned from his position.
