The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to investigate former DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia and former DB Chief and Additional Commissioner Harun-or-Rashid for allegedly acquiring assets beyond their known sources of income.
ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmin confirmed the decision on Sunday (18 August).
Earlier, on 27 June, Supreme Court lawyer Salahuddin Regan filed an application with the ACC, requesting an investigation into reports published in national newspapers alleging that former DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia had acquired illegal assets.
According to ACC sources, allegations have surfaced that former DMP Commissioner Asaduzzaman and Additional Commissioner Harun-or-Rashid accumulated illegal assets worth crores through irregularities and corruption.
The decision to investigate these claims is based on recommendations from an intelligence report, the ACC secretary added.
