The postponed Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will resume on 11 September.
The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee on Thursday (15 August) released the revised schedule for the exams on the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board's website.
The HSC and equivalent exams began on 30 June, excluding the Sylhet Board. According to the initial schedule, after eight days of exams, all tests scheduled for July 18 were postponed due to the situation arising from the quota reform movement. The government later postponed the exams in three additional phases.
According to the revised schedule, 61 subject exams remain out of a total of 13 days of testing. The delays are due to the number of subjects and different departments involved. Each student is required to take exams in 13 subjects, including mandatory Bengali, English (both first and second papers), and ICT, along with eight optional subjects.
On 1 August, the exams were postponed indifinitely, and a new schedule was issued starting 11 August. As per this schedule, written exams were expected to end by September 8. However, due to the ongoing student and public protests demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the current situation, the boards have indicated that it is not feasible to hold the exams at this time.
With the interim government now in charge and the situation in the country stabilising, the respective boards are working to reschedule the postponed HSC exams.
