Activists of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement took control of the streets surrounding the residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Dhanmondi-32 since Thursday (15 August) as the ousted Awami Leagued called for a rally there to observe the death anniversary of its founder.

Upon visiting the site at 6:30am, it was observed that entry to the area in front of the house at 32 Dhanmondi was strictly prohibited.

Reports from the scene revealed that demonstrators had positioned themselves from the Shukrabad intersection to Dhanmondi-32 and in front of the Metro Shopping Mall.

They were seen marching intermittently, circling Dhanmondi-27 before regrouping at Dhanmondi-32.

During the protest, members of the armed forces were stationed in front of the house at Dhanmondi-32, while additional personnel from the police, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), and the army were positioned at the Metro Shopping Mall intersection.
