Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has lodged two complaints with the Paltan Model Police Station against 15 senior police officials, including former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and former DMP Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harun-ur-Rashid.

The complaints, filed on Wednesday (14 August) by Salah Uddin Khan, BNP’s officer for case information and preservation, accuse the police officials of orchestrating looting and vandalism under the guise of a raid on the BNP's central office, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Paltan Model Police Station Sentu Mia.

Following the filing, Salah Uddin Khan alleged that police officers have been harassing BNP members since 2009 through false charges and enforced disappearances.

He cited a specific incident from 2022, accusing Harun-ur-Rashid, Mehedi Hasan, and Biplob Kumar of breaking into the BNP office, stealing goods worth approximately Tk47 lakh, and causing damages worth Tk350,000. He stated that an FIR has now been filed concerning this incident.

Another complaint pertains to an incident on 16 July, when DB Chief Harun-ur-Rashid, along with DMP officials Mehedi Hasan and Biplob Kumar Das, allegedly planted illegal arms and explosives in the office of BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
