Dr Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to the interim government, offered prayer at the grave of Abu Sayed in Rangpur's Pirganj upazila this morning.
The chief adviser arrived at Abu Saeed's home in Rangpur after 11:00am on Saturday (10 August).
Dr Yunust along with Nahid Islam and Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan, who are also part of the advisory council, left for Pirganj in Rangpur by a helicopter at around 9:30am.
Sayed, a student of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, was shot dead on 16 July and his death sparks agitation among the student protestors which led to the fall of Awami League government on 5 August.
In his first speech after arrival in Dhaka on Thursday, Nobel Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus recalled Begum Rokeya University Student Abu Sayed and said he will remain in the hearts of all in Bangladesh forever.
“…Abu Sayed’s image in the heart of every person in Bangladesh. No one will be able to forget it. The incredible courageous youth was standing in front of the guns,” he told in emotion-choked voice while speaking to the media at the airport.
The deceased Abu Sayeed is the son of Maqbul Hossain, a resident of Babanpur village of Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.
Sayeed was one of the coordinators of the quota reform movement and a 12th batch student of the English department of the university.
